Mission: Organization

I feel like I am extremely behind on many things. My to do list keeps getting longer and longer. Part of the problem is lack of motivation. Well here are a few things that would help in getting organized and staying organized so that I can tackle that to do list a lot easier. However making them is on my to do list, so for now I don't know how helpful that really is.

I would love for the crafty husband to help me build this entry way storage bench to convert a section of the garage into a mudroom. Currently, we come into the house through the garage straight into the kitchen, so our shoes just pile up on the kitchen floor and I'm constantly having to mop it.
This is a great recipe binder to put away all the loose recipe papers I have floating around the kitchen.

Typically, a blogger would offer an explanation as to why she has not posted anything in the past 10 months. Well, as of now I have no readers, thus no need to explain anything.

The past week was slow for husband's work so we had time to work on a project. I recently purchased my first sewing machine (more on that later) and needed a place to store it. Since we are pretty low on space, the best idea, to me at least, was to turn the guest room closet into a craft closet. It turned out quite nice! Here are some before and after photos. The closet was used mainly to store my out of season clothes and shoes, plus many random things.

The husband built a work space that I can either stand up and work or sit at on a bar stool, which I will be ordering this one

Glass containers holding ribbons and thread are from Goodwill.
The Hello Kitty buckets are from Target, on sale for 50 cents! Aren't they adorable?

I covered the corkboard with a cheerful fabric and yellow ribbon.

The handy husband put casters on the bottom of this little Craigslist find table so I can pull it out and sit and sew, and then just push it back under the work space when I'm done!

My First Post

Do you love the fall season? I absolutely love everything about it, including the weather, the fall cooking and baking, the smells, the clothes, and the colors. Now that I have a son I get to do the fun fall activities that I never had a chance to do as an adult, mostly because a single adult woman climbing onto the hayride to go pick out a pumpkin will get a lot of stares from parents.
I have a long to do list of fall activities which I want to accomplish this season with Brendan. I can proudly check one item off the list- A fall craft project.
Finding craft projects for a two year old can be difficult, but I found this great one at the Nick Jr. website.

Moose and Zee's Lace Apple Pouches
The great thing about this craft is you more than likely have all the supplies you need already.
Here's a rundown of how it went this afternoon. During his nap I went ahead and cut out the apple shapes out of cardstock. Brendan put glue on the two pieces for me then I stuck them together and punched the holes. I chose a ribbon that was round instead of flat for him to use that way it was easier for his little hands to guide it through the punched holes. The most difficult part for him was knowing which hole to stick the ribbon through and in which direction. After awhile the boy in him took over and he starting hissing "sssssnake" and slithering the ribbon on the table. So I turned it into a "which hole does the snake go in next?" game and he was able to finish up. Lastly I let him stick some stickers on the apple. I didn't think the craft project was that big of a hit until Brendan's dad came home and he proudly showed daddy saying "I made dat, I made dat." So I give it an A.
